SunLine Transit Agency’s Haul Pass program will now be extended to students at the Palm Desert Campus of Cal State San Bernardino as a result of a new partnership between SunLine and the university.
The program provides free unlimited SunBus rides for students actively enrolled at CSUSB.
“We are excited to welcome CSUSB on board as a new participating partner in this program,” said Lauren Skiver, CEO/general manager of SunLine Transit Agency. “Haul Pass supports students by offering free rides through our entire transit network – allowing students to focus on their classes and studies by relieving financial concerns related to transportation to and from campus activities as well as work and leisure destinations.”
The Haul Pass program launched at the Palm Desert Campus on Sept. 19, the first day of fall classes at the campus. SunLine ambassadors were on campus all day to answer questions and explain how the Haul Pass program works. To be eligible, students must be actively enrolled at CSUSB. Students will utilize their active student ID cards by swiping them through the SunBus card reader on the fare box. Should they require assistance, bus operators can help.
“We are pleased to be partnering with SunLine Transit Agency on the Haul Pass program,” said Jake Zhu, dean of the Palm Desert Campus. “This program will help our students immensely by reducing the financial burden of getting to and from campus.”
In addition to transportation to and from the PDC, the Haul Pass program allows students to use their active student ID cards to make fixed route transit trips any day of the week as well as transfers on the SunBus. Free fare for college students excludes the SunDial paratransit service and the Commuter Link 220.
