The university’s Information and Technology Services will host its annual Tech Fest Week Oct. 8-11 for Cal State San Bernardino students, faculty and staff to learn about available technology services.
 
The four-day event will be held in various locations of the John M. Pfau Library, with the exception of Oct. 10, when Tech Fest holds a session at the university’s Palm Desert Campus. The sessions will be from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
 
Tech Fest was created by ITS to introduce, help and train students, faculty and staff on the technology services available to them, said Samuel Sudhakar, the vice president for the division and the university’s chief information officer.
 
Tech Fest kicks off Oct. 8 with Student Day at the library basement, PL 025. Students will be able to get training on student software, bring their laptops and download free software, see the new INK SmartStations and more. There will be a download and pizza party from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. In addition, students can visit The Cave and stop by stations to get their ITS passport stamped for a prize.
 
Staff Day will be held on Oct. 9 at PL 1104. Attendees can gain a deeper understanding of CSUSB students’ needs, learn how to edit images, enhance their technical skills and discover what digital transformation really means.
 
On Oct. 10, Tech Fest moves to the CSUSB Palm Desert Campus for PDC Day, which will be held in the lobby of the Palm Desert Health Sciences Building. The PDC Technology Support Team will be on hand to answer questions and concerns. Attendees will be able to see what is new on campus and have a bite to eat.
 
Also on Oct. 10, back at the Pfau Library, the department will host the Hispanic Education Technology Consortium Workshops to help CSUSB Hispanic students as part of the university’s Hispanic Heritage Month series of events. The workshops will be held in PL 5005. Registration and a continental breakfast will be from 8:30-9 a.m. The first workshop will be from 9-10:30 a.m. and the second from 10:45-11:30 a.m.
 
On Oct. 11, Tech Fest moves back to the main campus for Faculty Day in PL-1104. Academic Technologies & Innovation (ATI) specialists will have presentations on Light Board, a Quality Learning with Technology (QLT) certified online course example and GoReact Demo. Faculty can also watch ATI technology demonstrations on virtual reality, augmented reality, 3D scanning, 360 immersive video and active learning.
