Victims honored at CSUSB memorial 4 years after San Bernardino terror attack

William Vandyke, a lecturer in the CSUSB Department of Health and Human Ecology, was one of the speakers at a memorial at the university’s Peace Garden to remember the victims of a mass shooting in San Bernardino on Dec. 2, 2015.
 
Family, friends and the community residents, joined by students, faculty and staff, came together four years to the date to honor the 14 people lost in the tragedy.
 
A bell was rung 14 times by Michael Nguyen (not identified in the video segment), also a CSUSB health and human ecology lecturer, each toll honoring a life lost in the 2015 attack at the Inland Regional Center in San Bernardino.
 
Friends and family of those killed came together for a day of remembrance at the university, where five of the victims had graduated from.
 
“I know now that we never get over great losses— they shape us, they change us,'   Vandyke said.

CSUSB professor emeritus issues a challenge the Ethiopian diaspora

In a column to Ethiopians living abroad, Alemayehu G. Mariam, CSUSB professor emeritus, political science, wrote: “I have written this commentary as a wake-up call to diaspora Ethiopians, particularly those in the United States. Fundamental and structural changes are taking place in Ethiopia.  Ethnic apartheid is taking its last gasps of air. The masters of ethnic apartheid are living out their last days in the Ninth Circle of Hell. No doubt, they shall continue to toil in darkness to spread their gospel of hate and division.”
