Art professor, glass expert named CSUSB’s 2020-21 Outstanding Professor

A shining example of an engaged faculty member who has also built an international reputation for her glass art, Katherine Gray has been named Cal State San Bernardino’s 2020-21 Outstanding Professor.
In being chosen for the honor, Gray, a professor and associate chair of the Department of Art and Design, also becomes the John M. Pfau Endowed Professor, named for the university’s first president. Gray is also a distinguished glass artist, whose work has been on display in a number of museum exhibitions and is the resident evaluator on the Netflix hit show “Blown Away,” now in its second season.
Hate crimes against Asian Americans continue to rise in first quarter of 2021, CSUSB professor says

Brian Levin, director for the Center for the Study of Hate and Extremism at CSUSB, was interviewed about the increase in hate crimes targeting Asian Americans, sharing a glimpse of what has happened in the first quarter of 2021 after the previous year recorded a nearly 150 percent jump from 2019 in such incidents reported in the nation’s 16 major cities.
For example, Levin said in the first quarter of the year, New York City has “more anti-Asian in 2021 than for all of last year.”
Hate crimes can run the range from vandalism, such as graffiti, to attacks on people. He said, “A lot of these attacks nationwide are assaults.”
