The Robert and Frances Fullerton Museum of Art (RAFFMA) at Cal State San Bernardino and the Department of Art and Design present the 50th Annual Student Art Exhibition, which will feature artwork from the next generation of emerging Inland Empire artists.

Original CSUSB undergraduate student artwork will be on display at RAFFMA from May 13 - June 25. An awards ceremony will be held on Friday, May 13, at 6 p.m., followed by a reception at 7 p.m.

Art students have been hard at work all year preparing for the highly competitive exhibition. The exhibition demonstrates the art department’s focus on developing emerging artists and designers who are professional, technically skilled, conceptually astute and innovative. RAFFMA’s galleries will be filled with a variety of media, subjects, approaches and styles that express a wide range of ideas about traditional and contemporary art.

This year, Jennifer Frias was selected by faculty in the Department of Art and Design to serve as the exhibition juror. Frias has been active in the arts for more than 20 years with professional experience ranging from curatorial, education, community outreach and collection management. She began her role as director/curator of the Begovich Gallery at Cal State Fullerton in summer 2019. Before CSUF, she was part of UCR ARTS where she served as director of education and academic programs and co-founded the award-winning OFF THE BLOCK program.

Her curatorial projects have led efforts that connect contemporary art and visual culture into classroom curriculum and the community. Notable exhibitions include “Xavier Cázares Cortéz: FINGERS ARE CROSSED, just in case” (2018), “Second Wave: Aesthetics of the 80s in Today’s Contemporary Art” (2015), “Jesper Just: Sirens of Chrome” (2013), “Hiromi Takizawa: Ultraviolet,” (2012), and “Render: New Construction in Video Art” (2012). She is a contributing writer for KCET Artbound, a former adjunct faculty at Cal State Fullerton in exhibition design, as well as a CSUF alumna. She is also a practicing designer and artist working in photography and installation.

General admission to the museum is free. Suggested donation is $3. Parking at Cal State San Bernardino is $6 per vehicle ($3 on weekends).
