Cal State San Bernardino has been ranked among the top national universities in the country in four categories that includes No. 13 for Social Mobility and No. 31 for Best Value in the 2022-23 U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges rankings.
Also in the USNWR National University rankings, CSUSB was listed:
- No. 100 among the Top Public Schools (tied with two other universities); and
- No. 194 in National Universities (tied with seven other universities).
In the USNWR Best Undergraduate categories, CSUSB was ranked:
- No. 87 for Best Undergraduate Engineering (tied with 22 other universities);
- No. 172 for Best Undergraduate Nursing (tied with 34 other universities); and
- No. 255 for Best Undergraduate Computer Science.
“This is tremendous news as the rankings indicate our university’s determination to provide an outstanding higher education experience to our students, especially in the areas of social mobility and providing a best value,” said CSUSB President Tomás D. Morales. “It is especially gratifying as it reflects the hard work and dedication of our amazing faculty and staff.”
The national university rankings come after CSUSB was designated an R2 institution earlier this year by the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education (CCIHE), recognizing the university’s development from a master’s level-comprehensive university to one that awards research/scholarship doctorates. The R2 designation places CSUSB among the top 7% of colleges and universities in the nation from the ranking of 3,900 colleges and universities and the classification of 137 as R1 and 133 as R2.
U.S. News & World Report Best College rankings are considered one of the most influential and anticipated recognitions for colleges and universities that provide a full range of undergraduate and master’s degree programs throughout the United States.
The U.S. News & World Report rankings are determined on a number of factors that include: Graduation and retention rates; social mobility; graduation rate performance; undergraduate academic reputation; faculty resources for the 2021-22 academic year; student selectivity for the fall 2021 entering class; financial resources for students; the average alumni giving rate; and graduate indebtedness.
Along with being posted online, the U.S. News & World Report rankings will be listed in the 2023 Best Colleges guidebook, which will be released in October.
