Native American Heritage Month graphic

This November, Cal State San Bernardino celebrates Native American Heritage Month with a series of events to honor Native American culture, traditions and contributions. 

One of the highlights of the month includes a closing ceremony on Wednesday, Nov. 29, featuring state Assemblymember James Ramos, D-Highland, a CSUSB alumnus and the first California-born Native American elected to the California Assembly, along with bird singers and words of wisdom from CSUSB Indigenous leaders.

Some of the 2023 Native American Heritage Month events include:

  • Nov. 1: Opening Ceremony | noon-2 p.m. | SMSU North Patio (1st floor)
  • Nov. 2: Pfau Library presents “Imagining the Indian” screening | noon-3 p.m. | SMSU South Theater
  • Nov. 6: Intro to American Indian Studies with Robert and Mary Levi | 10-11:30 a.m. | SMSU South Skyboxes 207/208
  • Nov. 8: Good Medicine Hour | noon-2 p.m. | Health Center Lawn
  • Nov. 9: Healing Circle | noon-1 p.m. | First Peoples’ Center, SMSU North, room 3309
  • Nov. 15: Thanks-Taking Gathering | noon-2 p.m. | SMSU Conference Centers
  • Nov. 16: Indigenous Story Hour | noon-1 p.m. | First Peoples’ Center, SMSU North, room 3309
  • Nov. 22: Beading Circle | noon-2 p.m. | First Peoples’ Center, SMSU North, room 3309
  • Nov. 29: Closing Ceremony | noon-2 p.m. | SUN Patio (1st floor)
