Four first-year students currently attending Cal State San Bernardino’s Palm Desert Campus have each received a University Legacy Scholarship that will cover their full tuition and fees, net of financial aid, for four years, leading to a baccalaureate degree.

The recipients are:

  • Kimberly Justo
    City of Residence: Palm Desert
    Graduate of Palm Desert High School
    “With the University Legacy Scholarship, I am so much more financially free! I feel encouraged as I pursue my goals of becoming a family nurse practitioner,” said Justo.
  • Alessandra Ramos 
    City of Residence: La Quinta
    Graduate of La Quinta High School 
    “I am truly blessed and honored to have been granted the University Legacy Scholarship. This has granted me the opportunity to acquire a bachelor's degree without a financial cost, but most importantly, it has granted me the opportunity to be a part of the CSUSB Palm Desert Campus community. I will use this opportunity to pursue my goal of becoming a registered nurse to help serve our public with care and close connections,” said Ramos.
  • Daniela Rodriguez
    City of Residence: Indio
    Graduate of Indio High School
    “The University Legacy Scholarship has given me the honor to pursue a higher education and bring me a step closer to my goals. This scholarship also gives me the support I need in school and helps guide me to success. I plan on being more involved on campus and continuing to serve my community by volunteering and giving back for the amount of support I have received,” said Rodriguez.
  • Lissbeth Vega
    City of Residence: Desert Hot Springs
    Graduate of Desert Hot Springs High School
    “This scholarship does not just give me funds for my tuition, it helps open doors to a bright future. Upon graduation, I aspire to become an English teacher and then a professor,” said Vega.

These new scholarship recipients join a roster of more than 20 previous recipients from the past six years.

The University Legacy Scholarship provides an opportunity for outstanding graduating high school seniors attending high schools in the Coachella Valley to compete for an academic scholarship to attend the CSUSB Palm Desert Campus. It was created for Coachella Valley students to realize just how accessible a college education is, thanks to the generous support of community members.

The scholars are selected on the basis of their academic achievement, leadership and service to the community.

The program was established for deserving local students who are graduates of high schools from the Coachella Valley Unified School District, Desert Sands Unified School District and Palm Springs Unified School District. In addition, students graduating from accredited private and online schools in the Coachella Valley are also eligible for the scholarship program.
