CSUSB faculty, staff and students are invited to attend a campus-wide open forum on Tuesday, Feb. 27, to provide input about the new Student Center at the Palm Desert Campus.
Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the project, see updates, ask questions and provide feedback.
The event, which is hosted by the PDC Student Center design team, will take place from 1-2:30 p.m. in the Indian Wells Theater lobby at the CSUSB Palm Desert Campus.
The California State University Board of Trustees unanimously approved the schematic design for the new building on Sept. 13, 2023.
When complete, the new 23,700-assignable-square-foot Student Center will encompass a variety of facilities tailored to student needs. These will include an advising/tutoring center, career center, expanded campus library, group study space, a cross cultural center, campus bookstore, food services, a student health center, and a recreation and wellness center. The goal is to provide comprehensive support and services for students at the Palm Desert Campus.
It will free up approximately 10,000 square feet of existing space in the campus’ Mary Stuart Rogers Gateway Building, Indian Wells Center for Educational Excellence and Palm Desert Health Sciences Building to be re-purposed for the expansion of academic programs on the campus, including additional faculty office and classroom space.
The new building is intended to support up to 4,000 full-time equivalent (FTE) students and is designed for maximal flexibility as the campus continues to grow.
