The annual Womxn’s History Month celebration at Cal State San Bernardino will feature a variety of events that highlight the achievements and contributions of women while promoting solidarity within the community. This year’s theme, “Sisterhood & Solidarity,” underscores the university’s commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.
The month-long celebration commenced with an Opening Ceremony on Monday, March 4, from 8:30 a.m.-11 a.m. at the Santos Manuel Student Union North. Speakers included Jennifer Sorenson, Lynniece Warren, Rowena Casis-Woidyla, and Albina Guerrero and set the tone for the month, with panelists discussing the significance of the theme and its relevance to the campus community. The event provided breakfast for the more than 75 faculty, staff and students who attended.
CSUSB will host the Womxn's Walk on Tuesday, March 19. To join this all-day event, participants can pick up a Bingo card in Sierra Hall, room 101. Pictures and biographies of 10 notable womxn in history who are still making an impact today will be placed around campus. Participants will need to sign off that they've stopped at each location (honor system) and return their card to Sierra Hall to receive a raffle ticket. After the walk, three raffle prizes will be awarded. No registration is required.
The month will culminate with the Womxn's Leadership Conference on Friday, March 29, featuring keynote speaker San Bernardino Mayor Helen Tran. The event will take place at the Santos Manuel Student Union South from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. The president's DEI board co-chief diversity officers Kelly Campbell and Robin Phillips, along with representatives from CSUSB's affinity groups, will lead discussions on topics ranging from DEI initiatives to cultural competency. The conference will provide a platform for networking, learning and empowerment, with lunch provided for the first 75 registrants. Registration is preferred, not required.
