Cal State San Bernardino has appointed David Dufault-Hunter to serve as the inaugural vice president of the university’s new division of Strategic Enrollment Management and Marketing. Dufault-Hunter will officially join the university on Sept. 3.
He joins CSUSB from Cal State Northridge, where he has been the associate vice president for enrollment services since November 2020. As the inaugural holder of this CSUN position, he has worked to create a cohesive structure comprised of the offices of admission, student outreach and recruitment, financial aid and scholarships, university registrar, strategic communication for enrollment services, international exchange student center and enrollment services technology.
He further facilitated the development and implementation of a strategic enrollment plan for CSUN. Prior to assuming the associate vice president position, he served as director of admissions and records.
“We are delighted that Dr. Dufault-Hunter will be joining us this fall,” said CSUSB President Tomás D. Morales. “We had some incredible candidates, and we are so fortunate that he has said yes. He brings the perfect blend of training and experience that will be vital to establishing this new division and getting it up and running quickly.”

On establishing the new division, Morales said, “It has become clear, over these past four years, that our university needs to review, innovate and intensify our efforts around enrollment. This decision led to the division’s creation.”
Strategic Enrollment Management and Marketing will contain the offices of financial aid and scholarships, admission operations, registrar, and outreach and student recruitment. The university’s office of strategic communication will also move its base of operations under the new name of marketing and communications. The division’s official launch date is July 1.
Morales explained the decision-making process for the reorganization of CSUSB’s enrollment area. “This is all a part of being a university that reviews the data, including trends, and uses that information to re-shape its actions while remaining true to our overall mission,” he said. “And that is to serve the people of the Inland Empire with access to a first-class education with topflight faculty on a campus offering state-of-the-art facilities in which to learn and study.”
Dufault-Hunter’s experience includes serving at Azusa Pacific University, Oaks Christian School in Westlake Village and Fuller Theological Seminary, totaling more than 30 years working with high school, undergraduate and graduate students in the areas of student recruitment and retention, marketing, academic partnerships and diversity initiatives.
He has his bachelor of science in speech from the University of Texas at Austin, a master of arts in theology from Fuller Theological Seminary, and a Ph.D. in higher education from Azusa Pacific University.
