An article on the launch of a youth orchestra by the San Bernardino Symphony Orchestra mentioned that two CSUSB music faculty members were involved in starting it. Former faculty member Nicholas Bratcher helped form a youth wind ensemble that grew to 77 musicians, and Lucy Lewis, CSUSB professor of violin and viola and director of orchestral studies was named the youth symphony’s director. Serving as assistant conductor will be Veronica Manzanera, a San Bernardino native and recent graduate of Cal State San Bernardino who was principal oboist of the university’s symphony orchestra.
