This July, Cal State San Bernardino’s Robert and Frances Fullerton Museum of Art (RAFFMA) once again welcomed young explorers to campus for the annual Kids Discover Egypt Workshop, a popular summer program designed to bring ancient history to life for children ages 6-14.
Held in two three-day sessions — July 8-10 for children ages 6-10 and July 15-17 for ages 11-14 — the workshop offered a rich blend of hands-on learning and creative exploration. Each day, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., participants engaged in activities inspired by ancient Egyptian culture, including crafting Canopic jars, exploring the basics of archaeology through a mock dig, and completing individual and group projects that sparked curiosity and critical thinking.
The sessions were capped at 20 participants each to ensure a personalized, engaging experience. In one morning warm-up activity, students built three-dimensional landscapes as an introduction to geography and historical context. Throughout the week, they continued to dive into ancient Egyptian art and symbolism through storytelling, art-making and guided museum exploration.
This annual workshop highlights RAFFMA’s commitment to making art and culture accessible to the broader community through meaningful educational programming.
