As a student, Adonis Galarza-Toledo ’20 worked tirelessly to ensure CSUSB students had their voices heard. Education was important to him, and seeking his bachelor’s degree in public administration with a minor in Spanish at CSUSB made his dream of becoming a leader in his community a reality.
CSUSB President Tomás D. Morales delivered the keynote address, sharing campus achievements and advice for students during the Aug. 26 event.
“There’s something about the faculty here that’s really special,” Moran says. “They understand our students. ... They say, ‘OK, what’s going on in your life? How can I help you be where you want to be?’”
Cal State San Bernardino was recognized as a “campus with the most creative approach to registering students to vote” in the 2020 Ballot Bowl competition developed by the California Students Vote Project.

The virtual event, co-hosted by the Mexican Consulate in San Bernardino, CSUSB, the university’s Latino Education & Advocacy Days project (LEAD) and Associated Students Inc., is the consulate’s official celebration of Mexican Independence Day for the inland region.
The formal kick-off at the Palm Desert Campus for the 2020-21 academic year took place on Aug. 27. CSUSB President Tomás D. Morales, now entering his ninth year leading the university, delivered the keynote address.
