CSUSB music professor Stacey Fraser has received a $30,263 National Endowment for the Arts grant to commission, perform and record a new song cycle marking the nation’s 250th anniversary. The project will premiere at CSUSB and include performances, educational programming and a professional recording.
On Monday, April 20, Bodell, associate professor of kinesiology, was named 2025-26 Golden Apple award recipient for his service to the university, particularly for his dedication to teaching.
The award signifies excellence as a frontline instructor along with contributions to the professor’s discipline through scholarship and research, and also service to the campus and larger community.
The Wednesday, April 22, event will blend live music with stargazing in celebration of Earth Day. The immersive evening will feature contemporary compositions, guest performers and a dynamic soundscape inspired by the cosmos. Tickets are available now.
The award recognizes the work of Jessica Nerren, a lecturer in the Department of Communication and Media, in and out of the classroom, and her advocacy for all students, especially the neurodiverse, to ensure they have the opportunity and resources to succeed at CSUSB.
Acclaimed soprano and CSUSB Opera Theatre director Stacey Fraser is celebrating a standout year, earning Favorite Opera Singer in the San Francisco Classical Voice Audience Choice Awards and releasing two critically praised albums, “My Dancing Sweetheart” and “A Chaos of Light and Motion,” among other achievements.
