
Super Sunday, the statewide outreach by the California State University, took place on Feb. 23 when the university system that includes CSUSB joined with Black and African American churches to talk about the transformational power of a college degree.

The California State University’s Super Sunday, set for Feb. 23, is an initiative that focuses on the importance of higher education. Black and African American congregations across California will receive presentations from CSU officials.

Cal State San Bernardino will hold its university-wide Giving Tuesday campaign on Dec. 3. This event, celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving in the U.S., raises funds to support student scholarships and programs.

The scholarship recipients – Caroleena Santana, a psychology major, and Zachary Perez, a business analytics major – were honored at a luncheon at San Bernardino Valley College on Oct. 25.

“As a longstanding member of AGB, an organization that does so much for so many institutions of higher education, it’s an honor and a privilege to serve in an advisory capacity to its leadership as a member of the Council on Foundation Leaders,” said Robert J. Nava, vice president for University Advancement. The Association of Governing Boards of Universities and Colleges Council on Foundation Leaders provides counsel to key industry leaders to help them navigate the changing education landscape.

Raymond Watts comes to Cal State San Bernardino after most recently serving as associate vice president for development at Claremont McKenna College.

The award, given by Inland Empire Economic Partnership, recognizes individuals who go above and beyond their work in their profession and also display strong leadership in the two-county region of San Bernardino and Riverside.

Monica Alejandre received the AOA Outstanding Accomplishment Award recognizing her exemplary leadership in the development of the AOA Philanthropy Committee where she served as its inaugural chair.

President Tomás D. Morales is a 2023 recipient of a Toward a Shared Vision award from Growing Inland Achievement in the area of Student-Centered Excellence.
