COE Dean Chinaka DomNwachukwu has a number of goals for the college, such as increasing the diversity of students enrolled there, especially African American males becoming teachers.
The award will be used to recruit and train 22 academic fellows per academic year from the CSUSB Undocumented Student Success Center, Office of Pre-College Programs, and 2020 alumni.
Community leaders from education, business, government, and nonprofit sectors will gather on Sept. 21-22, for the Growing Inland Achievement’s (GIA) 4th Annual Toward a Shared Vision conference. CSUSB President Tomás D. Morales is the GIA board co-chair.
The grant from the James Irvine Foundation supports the GIA’s organizational capacity, building and sustainability. The GIA’s mission is to improve the long-term economic outlook of the region through improving educational attainment rates.
The CSUSB Philanthropic Foundation, in partnership with Growing Inland Achievement (GIA), recently secured two 24-month grants, totaling $1.1 million, from College Futures Foundation and The James Irvine Foundation.
