Embedded Tutoring: A Collaborative Peer Model for Academic Support
Embedded tutoring is an innovative academic support model where peer tutors are strategically integrated into specific courses to provide targeted assistance to students. Different then traditional tutoring that takes place outside of the classroom, embedded tutors collaborate closely with instructors and students within the classroom setting.
CSUSB started Embedded Tutoring with Math courses during Winter 2019 when the university was still under the quarter system. Since then, Embedded Tutoring has grown within the Math Department and as of Spring 2025, the program is being piloted to expand to additional subject areas.
