CSUSB professor to explore 19th century poetry by Latinas at Yotie Talk event

Vanessa Ovalle Perez, Cal State San Bernardino assistant professor of English, will explore the political, social and literary impact of poetry by Latinas in California Spanish-language newspapers during the 19th century at Cal State San Bernardino’s Yotie Talk event. The talk, titled “Latinas in the American West,” will take place Tuesday, Feb. 11, in the John M. Pfau Library Multimedia Center (PL-5005) at noon.

CSUSB professor emeritus’ program to address bullying under consideration for Moreno Valley schools

An article about efforts to combat bullying in the Moreno Valley school district reported that one program the district is considering is one in use at the San Bernardino Unified School District.
 
One counselor at Curtis Middle School in San Bernardino had heard about a program developed in New Zealand by John Winslade, now a professor emeritus at Cal State San Bernardino, and Michael Williams.
After an especially severe bullying case, then-principal Marlene Bicondova’s team Curtis Middle School decided to try the method.
 
The article reported that the method was extremely successful.

Two with CSUSB ties running for San Bernardino City Council

James Mulvihill, CSUSB professor emeritus, is on the March 3 ballot for the San Bernardino City Council, the newspaper reported. Mulvihill, the incumbent, is seeking another term in the city’s Ward 7.
 
Also on the ballot is Marlo Brooks, a student at Cal State San Bernardino. Brooks is running for the city’s Ward 5 seat.
