Auditions are open for the San Bernardino Symphony Youth Wind Ensemble’s fall season. The Youth Wind Ensemble, open to woodwind, brass and percussion students from 14 to 21, was established in 2021 and is conducted by Nicholas Bratcher, director of bands at Cal State San Bernardino.

A Cal State San Bernardino professor who researches U.S. militia groups has warned that any indictment against former President Donald Trump arising from a search of Florida home would cause "fire to burn." CSUSB Criminologist Brian Levin told CNN's Kim Brunhuber on Friday that people could act based on the rhetoric surrounding the raid at Mar-a-Lago and appeared to criticize some of the former president's allies for their recent comments.

After federal authorities seized classified documents from former President Donald Trump’s Florida home, the news website cited an interview with CSUSB criminologist Brian Levin, who discussed the potential for more violence during a Friday night, Aug. 12 appearance on CNN. Levin, who serves as director of the Center for the Study of Hate & Extremism, fears that violent attacks by Trump supporters could escalate if the former president faces some type of indictment.

The Center for the Study of Hate and Extremism at Cal State San Bernardino’s annual report on hate crimes notes that anti-LGBTQ attacks increased 51.3% in 2021, as hate crimes featuring “groomer” rhetoric aimed at the LGBTQ community and its allies began to spike this year, intensifying a larger trend of rising anti-LGBTQ bias-motivated acts over the previous two years.
