The host of “What’s on Disney Plus” interviewed Stuart Sumida, CSUSB professor of biology, and his wife Elizabeth Rega, a professor of anatomy and associate vice provost for academic development at Western University of Health Sciences, who both served as anatomy consultants for the studio’s latest film, “Strange World.”

Brian Levin, director of CSUSB’s Center for the Study of Hate and Extremism, was interviewed for a segment about a study by the Anti-Defamation League that said rapper Kanye West fueled antisemitic incidents throughout the nation, including on college campuses, through his online posts on social media. Levin said the center’s research appeared to back the ADL study’s findings.

Eight Coachella Valley high schools competed in the 18th annual Academic WorldQuest competition on Feb. 2, according to the press release. The event, which took place at the CSUSB Palm Desert Campus, was facilitated and coordinated by Michael Karp, an assistant professor of history at the Palm Desert Campus and member of the Board of Directors of the World Affairs Council of the Desert.

Leslie R. Amodeo (psychology) led a team that published research on “prescription psychostimulants, such as methylphenidate (MPH), (which) have served as a first line treatment for ADHD and associated developmental disorders since 1961,” the abstract reads. “Psychostimulants has been shown to improve attention, response inhibition, and reduce hyperactivity in patients with ADHD, as well as in non-clinical human populations and animals. While there is a considerable amount of preclinical research investigating the effects of stimulant medications on reward sensitivity and basic learning in male rats, less is understood about their effects in females.”
