Laura Kamptner, professor emeritus, child development, was recently honored by the Institute of Child Development and Family Relations (ICDFR) at Cal State San Bernardino.

The institute’s Champion for Children, Parents, and Families Award was renamed the Laura Kamptner Champion for Children, Parents, and Families Award; she is the award’s first recipient, ICDFR director Mark Agars announced at the institute’s annual luncheon.

Renaming the award reflects the work of Kamptner, who dedicated her career to parenting research and educating parents in the community. Her work has made a difference in the lives of thousands of parents and their children.

The award will be given to individuals in academia and/or in the community who reflect Kamptner’s spirit and who have demonstrated exceptional commitment and dedication to improving the lives of children, parents and families in our community.

The award will be presented regularly but no more than annually at the ICDFR Spring Luncheon.
