McWeeney was among the former FBI officials who recounted their successes and failures as they tried to rebuild the bureau’s Cold War-era spy-hunting capabilities – a process laid out in a 2005 internal FBI document obtained by The Bulwark.

Daniel MacDonald, economics professor at Cal State San Bernardino, discussed the findings he shared on his latest Substack post, Inland Empire Economic Intelligence, in which he used a different data set – California unemployment insurance claims – to gauge how the IE’s job market is faring in the absence of federal government data due to the recent shutdown. “No big news, no surprises, nothing of any major concern,” MacDonald said. “So what we found is that in October and November, the labor market remained relatively steady.”

The article cited “The State of Disability Representation on Television: An Analysis of Scripted TV Series From 2016 to 2023,” written in 2024.

Brian Levin, founding director of Cal State San Bernardino’s Center for the Study of Hate and Extremism, was interviewed for his perspective on the fatal Hanukkah attack in Australia. The country has seen an increase in antisemitic incidents and hate crimes, which also reflects what is happening worldwide, he said. Authorities say at least 16 people were killed and 40 injured in the attack that targeted a Hanukkah celebration on a beach.
