Following in the footsteps of other CSU campuses, the CSUSB Staff Council will focus on staff development, recognition, special events and act as advocates for the staff, and also serving as an advisory body to university President Tomás D. Morales.
Fifteen members of the first graduating class of 59 students attended a series of events on campus Sunday and Monday including CSUSB’s Convocation to celebrate the start of the 2017-18 academic year.
The start of the 2017-18 academic year also means the return of the intermittent feature, Faculty in the News, a compilation of news coverage that included Cal State San Bernardino faculty.
Students officially return to campus Thursday, Sept. 21, for the first day of classes of the 2017-18 academic year. The CSUSB Office of Institutional Research estimates that the fall quarter will see a total enrollment of 20,458.
A formal ribbon-cutting ceremony will begin at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 22, at the Cross Cultural Center ( SU-102) of the university’s Santos Manuel Student Union.

Residents rate San Bernardino County as a very good place to live, according to the annual public opinion survey by the CSUSB Institute of Applied Research and Policy Analysis.
The center, named for Bishop Gerald R. Barnes, the current head of the Diocese of San Bernardino, is located near campus at 2564 Kendall Drive. It will serve students from the Catholic Newman Club at CSUSB as well as other schools and colleges.
