
GEAR UP is part of an effort to make students, and their parents, aware of the opportunities available to them to attend college, and what the students need to do so that they can determine their own future.

Twenty-nine Cal State San Bernardino faculty members have been awarded promotions and/or tenure for the 2018-19 academic year, which will be in effect this September.

Felipe Ortego y Gasca, considered the principal scholar of the Chicano Literary Renaissance, will deliver a lecture titled “HSIs: The Expectation and the Reality” on Oct. 11.

The week commemorates the continuing success of GEAR UP, a college access program providing students and families the support and resources they need for college success.

“The New Normal” will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at Cal State San Bernardino’s John M. Pfau Library, room PL-5005.

“Latinas on the Diamond” will take place from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27, at CSUSB’s John M. Pfau Library, room PL-5005.

Sherwin Bitsui, a Diné (Navajo) from the Navajo Reservation in White Cone, Ariz, will present his poetry at Cal State San Bernardino on Thursday, Nov. 1, at 6 p.m. in the John M. Pfau Library.

The free event on Feb. 20 will feature panel presentations and a costume contest as part of the activities for the day.

CSUSB’s John M. Pfau Library will host a talk, “We Carry the Border on our Bodies: Bridging and Maneuvering Immigration Status Barriers in U.S. and Canadian Postsecondary Education,” by Paloma E. Villegas, assistant professor of sociology.
