Stacey Fraser, professor of music, was named the winner of Cal State San Bernardino’s 2024-25 Outstanding Professor Award for her excellence in teaching, research, scholarly and creative activities, and service to students and the campus community.
Premiering April 25 and running through May 4 at the CSUSB Ronald E. Barnes Theatre, “You Don’t Even Speak Spanish” follows Jorge Ramirez, a first-generation Chicano college student, as he struggles to find his voice over the cacophony of noise coming from his family, his classmates, and the weight of expectations placed on his shoulders. CSUSB student Jalonis Taylor’s journey from uncertainty to success as a first-generation college student is a story of resilience and determination. A part of the First-Generation College Celebration on Nov. 8, his experience at Cal State San Bernardino shines a light on the unique challenges and triumphs that students face. Taylor’s story is a reminder that with support and perseverance, students can achieve their dreams.
CSUSB’s Department of Theatre Arts will be holding auditions for two upcoming productions: William Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” and “Mariposa/Butterfly” by Sandra Fenichel Asher and José Casas on Sept. 4 and 5, with callbacks on Sept. 6.
