The Office of Pre-College Programs celebrated a record-breaking turnout at its Career Day event with over 100 participants. Since its inception, the event has helped paraprofessionals and student staff transform their work experience into marketable career skills.

In being named to Excelencia’s Baccalaureate Level category for its 2024 Examples of Excelencia recognition, Upward Bound was recognized as one of the programs that demonstrated an intentional and aligned approach in supporting Latino and other post-traditional students academically, financially and socially.

Two Cal State San Bernardino programs, Upward Bound and the Dream Internship, have been recognized by Excelencia in Education as among the best initiatives in the country serving Latino students in higher education and those aspiring to attend college.

CSUSB’s Center for Cyber & Artificial Intelligence hosted its 10th annual youth cyber summer camp, “CyberGuardians: Navigating the AI-Enhanced Future,” from July 7-12, introducing 60 Inland Empire high school students to the world of AI and cybersecurity.

CSUSB’s Center for Cyber & Artificial Intelligence, in collaboration with the Office of Pre-College Programs, is hosting the 10th annual youth cyber summer camp, “CyberGuardians: Navigating the AI-Enhanced Future,” from July 7-12. The camp will welcome 60 high school students from across the Inland Empire region.

“I think the fact that [alumni] have returned to the university speaks to the positive, relationship-building aspects of our [pre-college] programs and to the opportunities the programs offer,” said Summer Steele, the executive director of CSUSB’s Pre-College Programs. “Many begin as student assistants in our office, build their skills and continue on. CSUSB is great for those students who were part of the pre-college pipeline.”

As the program director, Veronica Guzman said it’s critical to find student fellows who are passionate about serving their communities.

The pre-college programs at CSUSB are designed to provide participants and their families with educational and personal support services that will increase high school graduation, college enrollment and college completion.
