Welcome Judges of the 14th Annual 'Meeting of the Minds' Student Research Symposium

Event Date & Location: April 10, 2025, from 10:20 AM to 6:00 PM at Santos Manuel Student Union (North), Watson College of Education, and Center for Global Innovation.

Thank you for your commitment to fostering research excellence among our students. Below you'll find important information about your role as a judge for both the Oral and Poster presentations. Please review this guide thoroughly to prepare for the event.


Oral Presentations

Judge Eligibility: Faculty, lecturers, alumni, and graduate students are invited to serve as judges.

Information Session: An information session is scheduled for March 28, 2025, at 10 AM via Zoom. Attendance is crucial for clarity on the judging process and to answer any questions you may have. [Register here]

Material Review: Judges will receive digital copies of session materials via a shared drive link emailed after signing up. Please note, no physical copies will be provided.

Oral Presentation Schedule:

Location: Center for Global Innovation.

Session Times:

  • Session 1: 2:45 PM - 4:15 PM
  • Session 2: 4:30 PM - 6:00 PM

Sign-Up: Once the schedule has been finalized, judges will have the opportunity to sign up for their preferred sessions.

Check-In: Please check in at the Santos Manuel Student Union (North) at least 30 minutes before your session starts to allow time for set-up and to receive any last-minute instructions.

Evaluations:

  • Individual Assessment: Each judge will evaluate the presentations based on a predefined rubric, ensuring a standardized assessment process.
  • Group Deliberation: Following individual evaluations, judges will convene as a group to discuss and rank the top speakers of their session.
  • Selection of Winners: The highest-ranked presenter from each session will be declared the winner and will receive an invitation to the OSR Recognition Luncheon.

Poster Presentations 

Judge Eligibility: Faculty, lecturers, alumni, and graduate students are invited to serve as judges.

Information Session: A mandatory information session is scheduled for March 28, 2025, at 10 AM via Zoom. This session will provide crucial details about the judging process and the symposium logistics. [Register here]

Material Review: All judging materials will be made available digitally via links to a shared drive, sent in an email once the schedule is finalized. Please note, no physical copies will be provided.

Poster Presentation Schedule:

Location: Santos Manuel Student Union North Conference Center

Session Times:

  • Session 1: 10:45 AM - 11:45 AM
  • Session 2: 1:30 PM - 2:30 PM

Poster Assignment: Judges will be assigned posters based on their disciplines of interest to ensure knowledgeable and fair evaluations. An email with the poster assignments will be sent before the event day.

Check-In: Judges must check in at the Santos Manuel Student Union (North) at least 15 minutes before their assigned session begins.

Evaluations:

  • Individual Assessment: Each judge will evaluate the posters based on a predefined rubric, ensuring a standardized assessment process.
  • Selection of Winners: The highest-ranked poster presenter from each college will be declared the winner and will receive an invitation to the OSR Recognition Luncheon.
