Katherine Gray (art) returns for season four as resident evaluator in Netflix’s “Blown Away,” Brian Levin (criminal justice, emeritus) commented on the role of politicians’ rhetoric and the increase in hate crimes against Latinos, Yawen Li (social work) was interviewed for an article about body image, and Justin Schneider (nursing) was part of a research team that examined barriers faced by transgender individuals.
Paloma Villegas (sociology) co-authored an article that examined how students navigated their way through course content during the COVID-19 pandemic, Diane Vines (nursing) was honored by her alma mater, Vanderbilt University, with an award for public service, and Sanjeet Mann (CSUSB Libraries) discussed how he used the Wayback Machine to assist students and faculty in their research.
Kristi Papailler (theatre arts) was interviewed for an article about one of her students, Dea Armstrong, who won a national award, and Diane Vines (nursing) was honored by her alma mater, Vanderbilt University, with an award for public service.
The award was given for her dedication to caring for underserved populations and for her work as founder and director of the CSUSB Nursing Street Medicine Program.
The documentary by Ahlam Muhtaseb (communication studies), “1948: Creation & Catastrophe,” is being shown to Australian audiences by the organizers of the postponed 2023 Palestinian Film Festival Australia to promote an increased understanding of the Israel-Hamas conflict, and Jie Yu (nursing) was quoted in an article about the recent ranking of the Department of Nursing.
Jie Yu (nursing) commented on the CSUSB nursing department’s national ranking, and Kelly Campbell (psychology) was quoted in an article about the personal finance website, WalletHub, listing Texas among the most-stressed states.
Allnurses, the largest online nursing community and career support site, ranked CSUSB at No. 7 for having one of the best RN to BSN programs in California.
In addition to the top ranking in social mobility, U.S. News ranked CSUSB at No. 27 – up from No. 31 last year – in its national Best Value Schools category.
