Cal State San Bernardino has received the Award for Excellence for its “CSUSB Homepage – We Define the Future” redesign from the University & College Designers Association.
Two student teams from CSUSB’s School of Entrepreneurship competed and placed at the CSU Sunstone Startup Competition, an event that featured student participants from 23 CSU campuses.
Kristi Papailler (theatre arts) was interviewed for an article about one of her students, Dea Armstrong, who won a national award, and Diane Vines (nursing) was honored by her alma mater, Vanderbilt University, with an award for public service.
Dea Armstrong’s essay on former slave, abolitionist and playwright William Wells Brown marked the first time a Cal State San Bernardino student won a Black Theatre Network research award. “Stepping out of my comfort zone and really applying myself has made all of this come true,” she said.
Theatre arts student Dea Armstrong will present an abstract from her paper during the S. Randolph Edmonds Young Scholars award ceremony on July 22 at the 37th annual Black Theatre Network Conference in St. Louis, Mo.
CSUSB’s two teams – AxoTech and Solubrin – competed in both of the Product Tracks and took home first place in both tracks, winning $25,000 for each team.
The CSUSB Innovation Challenge, set for May 5, is looking for the cutting-edge idea that will help change the campus, the community or quite possibly the world. Open pitch information sessions on how to participate are set for April 5 and 6.
CSUSB economics major Edward Zakher’s research earned him the top spot in his section at the CSU Student Research Competition.
Teams will combine their knowledge and ideas to solve real problems during the main event on May 23, from 5:30-10 p.m., at the CSUSB Visual Arts Building patio and Room 101. Intent-to-compete forms are due April 30.
