CSOs (Community Service Officers)
The University Police Department employs students of the university in the capacity of a CSO (Community Service Officer). Their duties and responsible range from:
- Escort Service
- Observe and report suspicious activity, hazardous conditions and/or criminal violations
- Give directions and other types of aid to the campus community
- Lock/Unlock university buildings
- Patrolling campus, both during the day and at night, to assist campus community or for means of crime prevention and other duties as assigned
The Community Service Officers are the "eyes and ears" of the Police Department and assist as requested.
Interested In Becoming A CSO?
Obtain an application at the front counter of the University Police Department or by downloading the CSO Application.
Applications can be picked up or turned into the UP Building (University Police), next to Facility Management, Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm.
Escort Service
The escort program provides transportation to CSUSB students, staff, faculty, or others who are concerned for their safety. Escorts are generally provided in a variety of ways; by foot, department cart, or state vehicle.
This service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and can be requested through the police dispatchers at (909) 537-5165 or from a campus phone at extension 75165.
