Francisca Beer, professor of accounting and finance, was interviewed by the personal finance website for its article on behavioral finance. “The most important thing individuals need to know about behavioral finance is that it recognizes the role of psychology and emotions in financial decision-making,” she said. “Traditional finance theories often assume that individuals always make rational and objective decisions, implying that financial markets are efficient and that participants always act in their best interests. However, behavioral finance acknowledges that people are influenced by cognitive biases, emotions and heuristics that can lead to irrational choices.”

Stuart Sumida, a biology professor at California State University, San Bernardino who consulted on movies like “How to Train Your Dragon,” “Reign of Fire,” and “The Lion King,” was interviewed for an article by the science and culture website about the sci-fi classic “Invasion of the Body Snatchers,” whose 1978 remake turns 45 this December.
“The invaders in ‘Body Snatchers’ are sort of co-opting the bodies,” Sumida tells Inverse. “So they are somewhat parasitic, but they also take over the body machinery – sort of like the way a virus does.”

The Institute of Management Technology, Nagpur’s two-day eighth International Conference on Sustainability & Management Strategy started on Friday, Dec. 15. The event is being organized in collaboration with California State University San Bernardino (CSUSB), United States and Council of Scientific and Industrial Research-National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (CSIR-NEERI), Nagpur.
Distinguished keynote speaker Vipin Gupta, professor and co-director of the Center for Global Management at California State University, San Bernardino, enlightened the audience on the theme “Self-awareness Dimension for the Sustainability of Digital Transformation.”
Also presenting was Elizabeth A. Castillo, assistant professor of sustainable management at CSUSB, who shared her expertise on “Integrated Reporting as a Strategy Tool for Sustainable Value Chain.”
